We believe that the state of California should ensure that the individuals who have been or are currently incarcerated
in its Correctional Conservation Camps have the opportunities and support needed to attain gainful employment
as wildland firefighters / fuels technicians once home; providing a tangible way to address the ever growing wildfire threats.
FFRP was developed in direct response to the growing need for wildfire related personnel. Our mission is to increase the supply of wildfire personnel from nontraditional and underrepresented communities; and provide the training, skills, resources and experiences needed to secure gainful employment.
WHO WE ARE
The Forestry and Fire Recruitment Program is a nonprofit organization that provides career support to firefighters in California’s Conservation Camps who are interested in professional fire / fuels work once released.
FFRP directly combats the increasing threat of wildfires by supporting the transition into professional fire / fuels reduction work. Research has shown that immediately searching for and having post release work reduces recidivism. FFRP supports these skilled and experienced laborers utilize prerelease supports to start a post release career.
We are a network of former camp firefighters currently working as professional wildland firefighters. Through us, participants gain the information and steps needed for career success. FFRP assists these individuals prepare for success post camp by providing in person support, mentoring and career planning supports (resume, job application, and interview prep)
